Family, Friends, Fans, and Lurkers,
As I close out this year and prepare for the next, I just wanted to reflect on the meat grinder that was 2023.
It was a turbulent year for me personally, and my art life was no exception. I was only able to attend two conventions this year, one of which was an absolute catastrophe. And for the first time ever, I had to drop out of a convention (two actually). I also moved from NC to CA—coast to coast—and had to restart the arduous process of making new connections and finding new venues to share my art. My productivity was disappointing as well. Although I promised it last year, I still haven’t published Book 3 of The Bravest Queen, now titled The Speran Hunt.
Having said all that, 2023 wasn’t all bad. I did complete a couple of fun series like my Retro Media Darlings and WW2 Plane Girls. I’ve also already been accepted for two conventions next year, and I’m a paragraph away from finally sending The Speran Hunt off for editing. Hopefully, I can keep this momentum up and make 2024 a better year for my artistic endeavors. And of course, I just want to make more art to share with everyone.
Thanks so much for all of you who support and encourage me, and best wishes to everyone as you step boldly into the new year.
Sincerely,
Lamont Robinson
